However, those receiving over half of their income from Centrelink can still secure loans up to $12,000.

These loans cater to the financial situations of Centrelink recipients, promoting inclusivity and ensuring access to needed funds by considering Centrelink benefits as income.

Bad Credit? No Problem!

Bad credit doesn’t mean you can’t access cash loans. Many lenders adopt a flexible approach, recognizing everyone deserves a second chance, ensuring even those with past financial issues can get necessary funds.

Lenders understand financial difficulties can happen to anyone and aim to provide solutions to help rebuild credit during a difficult patch and financial stability.

Bad Credit Loans Explained

When applying for bad credit loans, lenders look beyond your credit score, considering factors like bank statements and overall affordability, including your bank details, to ensure comfortable repayment, helping more people qualify despite their credit history.

Bad credit loans offer an opportunity to improve your financial situation through timely repayments and demonstrating financial responsibility.

Ongoing Support for Borrowers

Ongoing support is crucial, especially for those with bad credit. Lenders provide lifetime support to guide you through the loan process and ensure successful repayments, helping improve financial stability over time.

With dedicated assistance, you can manage your loans better and work towards a more secure financial future.

Flexible Repayment Options

Flexibility in repayment options is a key feature of quick cash loans and other forms of cash loans, allowing borrowers to select flexible repayments schedules that fit their financial cycles, whether weekly or monthly.

Repayment plans range from a few weeks to several years, allowing you to choose a minimum duration that aligns with your financial capacity. This flexibility helps ensure repayment dates remain manageable and within your budget to repay.

Weekly and Monthly Repayments

Choosing between weekly and monthly repayment schedules helps align loan payments with your income cycle. For those with a weekly income, weekly repayments provide a manageable schedule.

Monthly plans are ideal for individuals paid monthly, ensuring loan payments coincide with the pay cycle and the monthly fee remains manageable.

Affordable Repayments

Affordable repayments are crucial for maintaining financial stability. Flexible loan options allow borrowers to choose plans that fit their budgets, making it easier to comfortably repay monthly expenses.

Understanding interest rates and the total repayable amount is essential, as these factors influence the overall cost of the loan and your ability to make affordable repayments.

Secured vs Unsecured Loans

Deciding between secured and unsecured loans depends on your financial needs. Secured loans often involve longer approval times due to asset valuation but come with lower interest rates and higher borrowing amounts.

Unsecured loans do not require collateral, making them a faster loan to obtain and accessible to more borrowers.

When to Choose Secured Loans

Secured loans are beneficial for larger financial needs, such as purchasing real estate or vehicles. These loans allow borrowing against assets like property or inventory, which offer loans at lower borrowing costs.

Collateral can include various types of personal assets, providing flexibility in what you can use to secure a loan.

Benefits of Unsecured Loans

Unsecured loans are ideal for smaller amounts, typically less than $100,000, and do not require collateral, making them perfect for those needing a small loan or fast cash without the hassle of asset valuation and documentation. This loan offer is particularly appealing for those seeking quick financial solutions, including small loans.

Unsecured loans provide quick access to funds, making them a convenient option for short term loans and immediate financial needs.

How to Ensure Responsible Lending

Responsible lending practices protect borrowers’ financial health. A responsible lender assesses the overall financial situation, including income and employment stability, rather than solely relying on credit scores, helping ensure borrowers do not take on more debt than they can manage, promoting financial stability and responsible borrowing.

Understanding Interest Rates

Understanding interest rates is essential for evaluating the true cost of a loan. The nominal percentage rate represents the percentage of interest charged on a loan’s principal over a year, while the annual percentage rate (APR) includes additional fees and expenses. The different comparison rate provides a more comprehensive view of the loan’s overall cost, including interest charges.

Repayment amounts are often calculated based on the borrower’s income and the loan’s interest rate to maintain affordability.

Total Repayable Amount

The total repayable amount includes the principal, accrued interest, and any applicable fee based fees charged over the loan term. Understanding this breakdown helps borrowers evaluate the true cost of a loan before committing.

The total repayable amount is calculated by adding the principal loan amount, interest, and any additional fees incurred during the loan period.

Summary

From understanding eligibility criteria and loan amounts to exploring the application process and repayment options, you’re now equipped with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions.

Money3: Best for High Loan Amounts

Money3 serves as an excellent choice for those in search of substantial financial assistance, with loan offerings that escalate up to $30,000. The swift pre-approval procedure is usually finalized within 5 to 10 minutes via the internet, ensuring rapid access to cash so borrowers can obtain the money they need.
Nevertheless, it’s important to note that larger loan amounts necessitate collateral, which may not be feasible for all applicants. Money3’s minimum duration for a loan term stands at one year, which might not align with individuals who require short-term fiscal remedies. Despite these constraints however, Money3 remains committed to aiding people with less than perfect credit scores through their expedited approval procedures making it an appealing alternative when higher sums are needed.

How to Choose the Best Fast Loan for Your Needs

Navigating the selection of a fast loan requires attention to vital elements for a well-informed choice. It’s important to consider both interest rates and comparison rates, as they greatly affect the overall expense of borrowing. Borrowers with higher credit scores and commendable credit histories tend to secure more favorable terms due to their lower perceived risk by lenders. The purpose of a comparison rate is to provide an accurate reflection of the loan’s total cost.

When deciding on personal loans, it’s crucial to assess the proposed loan amount, repayment schedule, and any applicable fees. Loan amounts vary widely between $5,000 and $100,000 and may come in secured or unsecured formats depending on your needs. To choose wisely among available options, you must have clarity regarding your financial position and what you can affordably repay without strain.

Seek out lending institutions that are known for streamlining processes resulting in swift approvals while offering straightforward information about fees involved. A thorough assessment of varied loan products against these criteria will aid in pinpointing an apt fast loan tailored to your specific monetary requirements.

Summary

In conclusion, finding the right fast loan in 2025 requires careful consideration of various factors, including interest rates, loan amounts, and repayment terms. Each loan product reviewed in this guide offers unique benefits, from Fundo’s no credit check loans to ClearCash’s transparent fee structure, Money3’s high loan amounts, Good to Go Loans’ easy application process, and Cash Train’s flexible repayment options.

When the presents have long been unwrapped, the turkey is a memory, and the beer and wine bottles are ready for recycling, the Christmas financial hangover can come crashing in during January. That overspending, sneaky purchases on credit cards, or IOUs left hanging can put a real dent in your finances. The new year is a new opportunity to start fresh. The Fundo team got together to give you five easy and breezy financial goals you can keep as your New Year’s Resolutions!

Make Budgeting A Habit

It’s conventional wisdom that says New Years Resolutions fail because they aren’t SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound. One specific habit is to do an annual audit of your finances – find out where all your money goes in and out – and then draw up weekly or monthly budgets on a fixed date so you aren’t overspending. Once you have a budget, you can set a specific goal. This may be to save up a deposit for a car, a house, or even to splurge on a big ticket item or a holiday. Also remember to set aside some money for an emergency fund or investing. Saving for the sake of it gets very boring, very quickly!

Review Your Recurring Bills

At the beginning of the year and Financial Year (July 1) you should look at your recurring bills – be it subscriptions to apps, utilities providers, insurance premiums – and figure out if you can either eliminate the ones you aren’t using or find cheaper alternatives. For example, do you pay for a big mobile data plan when you work from home and use wi-fi most of the time? Saving $5 per month means $60 per year – which could be better spent on micro investments or savings.

Check Your Credit History

Did you know you can check your credit history four times per year for free? If you aren’t sure about your credit score or your credit history, you should get a handle on it in the New Year. Banks, lenders, and other credit providers (like telcos) check your credit history to figure out if you’re a responsible borrower. If your history has mistakes on it, it’s your responsibility to clean them up. Improving your credit score means more favourable interest rates when it’s time to make a major asset purchase.

Pay Off Debts

Finances often suffer from “death by a thousand cuts” from small debts chipping away at our savings and desire to get ahead. If you have many small, recurring debts (like credit cards) it’s best to pay them off as quickly as possible to avoid mounting debt. One way to clear all your debts is to consider a debt consolidation loan, which is a personal loan that pays off all your small debts and combines them into a single payment that will eventually fall to zero. (Fundo could help! More on that later.)

Plan Your Purchases

One New Year’s resolution that is sure to work is planning your purchases ahead of time, thanks to the new budget you created. Planning your meals means less chance of splurging on expensive takeaway and means you can buy in bulk around weekly specials, saving even more in the process.

However, sometimes even the best laid plans can be interrupted by the unexpected. If you’re starting your New Year’s Resolution journey towards fitter finances and get hit with an urgent repair bill for your car or home or an appliance breaks down and needs fast replacement, or you need to cover a medical, dental, or flight bill, you can borrow anywhere between $500 to $5,000 from Fundo. You could even use a Fundo loan to consolidate other debts, like credit cards. It’s easy to apply and you could have the funds in your account within 60 seconds (pending loan contract approval and PayID enabled on your bank account.) If you need a leg up with funds, Fundo it!

Fundo Loan FAQs

Are there any restrictions on who can apply?

To begin a fast and secure application for a quick cash loan with Fundo, you must fulfill our lending criteria.

Must be 18 years of age or older

Residing in Australia

Earn at least $1,000 every two weeks – Centrelink recipients are welcome!

That we can check your income, if need be

If this resonates with you, go ahead and start your three-minute application now!

I have bad credit, can I apply?

Yes, we’ve helped thousands of Australians with bad credit get the funds they need to see through a rough patch. Sometimes, Fundo skips the usual formal credit check process. We take a look at your current financial situation and how comfortably you can repay the loan. This approach opens up our loans to more people, so even if your credit history isn’t perfect or you’re on a tight budget, you can still apply.

What is debt consolidation?

Debt consolidation is the act of taking out a personal loan and using the proceeds to pay off smaller, revolving debts with high interest, such as credit cards. The idea is to wipe out the credit card debt, close the account, and pay down the personal loan over time. Otherwise, paying off the minimum will just stack on more interest which can blow out to thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars. Most personal loans will have lower interest rates compared to credit cards. If you require more than $5,000, you may have to apply with a bank or credit union, as Fundo only offers small loans up to that limit.

What term should I choose? Is longer or shorter better?

It depends what your goal is. Opting for a shorter loan term means you’ll be making payments over fewer instalments, which means lower interest charges than opting for a longer term. Just a friendly reminder that there’s still an establishment fee to take care of with each installment. If you choose a shorter payment plan, you’ll notice that each payment will be a bit higher than if you chose a longer one. It’s really important to keep track of your repayment terms, as missing a payment or being late can lead to some challenges. Find that sweet spot and make sure you are comfortable with whatever plan you choose!

If you think about getting the house dressed up for Santa’s arrival, there’s a lot that goes into it. The tree, bunting, tinsel, stockings, festive tablecloths, Christmassy linens, crackers – the list goes on! You can make your home feel like a Christmas wonderland without breaking the bank – or looking tacky or cheap. Here’s Fundo’s wonderful guide to Christmas decorating ideas that won’t stretch your budget – which means more money spent on food and prezzies!

Use Colours, Not Prints

What screams “Christmas” to you – is it the colours of forest green, bright red, and white? Maybe a bit of gold or silver trim? Simply using the colours gives off a definite Christmas theme, and you can achieve this with ribbons. Ribbon threads can be picked up in bulk in a variety of sizes and are much cheaper than buying expensive tinsel or printed decorations. Tying a red ribbon around a candle gives off an instant Christmas theme. Gathering some native plants and tying them together with red and gold ribbons into a wreath costs a fraction of buying a real one – or even an artificial one! Likewise with napkins and tablecloths – layering single colours instead of single Santa prints can save you lots.

BONUS TIP: Wrapping metallic string in Christmas colours around cone-shaped objects like old sewing machine spools or triangular icy pole sticks can also make instant trees as decorations, and the kids love it!

Get Tree Creative

The cost of buying a six foot real pine tree is enormous, especially since you only use them once per year for a month at the outset. A plastic tree is way more economical, as you can use it every year. However, you can get even more creative with your tree design. Using some green tinsel, you can pattern it into a tree and stick it on your wall. Add a few lights and ribbons and you have an instant tree! Other ideas are to use native trees, just the top of a pine, or miniature trees. You can “build” your tree out of received Christmas cards and watch it grow over the festive season. A smaller tree means fewer decorations and more money saved.

DIY and Upcycling

Did you know that using dried orange slices can make for a great Christmas decoration? So do paper snowflakes, stars, and baubles. You can upcycle old pieces of wood or even old present boxes and use them as decorations using some homemade stencils and spray paint. It can save a bundle on garlands and pre-printed decor. You can even make ornaments out of baking soda and cornstarch!

Visit Op Shops

Though they may be light on hand-me-down decorations come December, op shops are definitely your friend when it comes to Christmas decorations on the cheap. Throughout the year, hit up your op shop and take something home to keep on standby for when Christmas comes. You’ll have everything ready to go and have saved a tonne!

Find a Dupe

A lot of Christmas decorations or bunting advertised online are usually dropshipped from elsewhere and sold at a ridiculous markup. In most cases (we mean, upwards of 90%) you can find identical decorations at a fraction of the price at AliExpress, Amazon, or Temu. If you order during November amid their 11.11 or Black Friday sales, you could have your entire Christmas decoration haul signed, sealed, and delivered before Santa’s out of bed! Just remember that shipping can be slow – don’t leave things too late or you’ll have to use them next Christmas.

Other Frugal Christmas Decorating Ideas

Buy some red or green jars (or save them throughout the year) and use them as decorations. Add a few baubles, tealights, or fairy lights and it’s instant Christmas!

Fill bowls or vases with pine cones or other native greenery. If you can stumble across dried berry branches, all the better!

Use cotton wool to make snow-themed wreaths or decorations.

Buy star shaped lamp shades or create paper lanterns to place around your lights and fixtures.

Tying coloured ribbons around lamps, door handles, and any other exposed household fixtures imparts an instant Christmas feel.

Growing poinsettia year round means you can have a few pot plants of this gorgeous green and red flower as centrepieces and decorations – and all it costs is a bit of water, sunlight and attention!

Getting a bit creative this Christmas can save you a lot of money – that’s better spent on presents!

Need Funds this Holiday Season? Fundo it!

The unexpected can and will happen during Christmas and new years such as urgent car repairs, medical bills, or unavoidable travel, and coming up with the money can put a real dent in your Christmas finances. If you want to keep Christmas on track without blowing your bank account, Fundo it! Fundo offers small cash loans ranging from $500 to $5,000 in a flash. You could have the funds in your account in under 60 seconds! (If you approve your loan contract and have PayID enabled.) Don’t let Santa pass you by this Christmas – just Fundo it!

FAQs

What can I use the funds for? Does it need to be for an emergency?

You can use our cash loan to cover unexpected expenses or emergencies, such as car repairs, medical bills, or urgent travel.

Can I apply, even if I have bad credit?

Yes you can! Many Australians with less-than-perfect credit have found help through us in securing small loans. Please keep in mind that we review applications individually, so we can’t promise acceptance for every customer.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

To get started, you’ll need to have a general understanding of your income and expenses.

Black Friday is almost as big as Boxing Day in Australia – and it isn’t surprising as we’ve embraced Halloween and the Super Bowl as near-holidays in themselves! As is per tradition, Black Friday is an opportunity for retailers to slash prices and move stock and as bargain hunters to snap up some fantastic savings. How can you make the most of Black Friday sales? Fundo has you covered with this ultimate guide!

Stick to a Strict Budget

With so many items on sale during Black Friday, you may be tempted to buy them all. But this isn’t good for our hip pocket, as we all know! So set a strict budget – something you can comfortably afford – and focus on your needs (such as replacing an old appliance) rather than wants (jewellery or yet another pair of shoes) first. If you can get what you want with the money left over, great! If not, use the Jay-Z rule: if you can’t afford to buy it twice, you can’t afford it.

Can You Get Discounts For…

In the modern age, online retailers will do anything to get your repeat business. They do that by capturing your “opt-in” information – like your phone number or email address. In most cases, they’ll give you a one-time discount in exchange. If they don’t, you can test the waters by loading up your cart and not buying, leaving it “abandoned.” In a day or two, they may remind you about it – and offer a bit of a discount too! Remember to try this in the early stages of the event, to make sure you save the most.

Use Bargain Hunter Browser Extensions

We all love shopping around for the best price on Black Friday, but thanks to apps and AI it can make things even easier. Browser extensions like Honey can find all the latest discount codes and apply them for you automatically (and also gives you rewards as you shop.) Keepa tracks prices on Amazon so you can see if the “discount” is all it’s cracked up to be. It could save you a pretty penny!

Stock Up On Discounted Gift Cards

If you don’t have anything you need or want just yet, it’s also worth stocking up on discounted gift cards. That means when you do need something, you have the benefit of the “discount” before you even buy! Pretty cool, huh?

Need Funds Fast To Take Advantage of Black Friday? Fundo It!

If there is a sudden or urgent expense that’s about to loom over Black Friday – or you just want to take advantage, you can get a small cash loan from Fundo between $500 and $5,000. You could have the funds in your account in under 60 seconds! (If you approve your loan contract and have PayID.) Stress less, and Fundo it this Black Friday!

FAQs – Applying For a Black Friday Loan

How much can I borrow for Black Friday loans?

You can borrow between $500 and $5,000 for any purpose with Fundo. Just use our three-click application system on the Fundo Dashboard to get started!

What are the repayment periods for Black Friday loans?

For small cash loans of $500 to $2,000, the minimum repayment period is 5 weeks with a maximum of 20. For loans above $2,000 to $5,000, the minimum repayment time is 9 weeks with a maximum of 26. You can choose from weekly, fortnightly, or monthly repayments.

Can I get a Black Friday loan with bad credit?

Yes! We’ve helped hundreds of Australians get itty bitty loans even if they have bad credit. Note: we can’t guarantee approval for all customers, as we assess applications on a case-by-case basis.

What do I need before applying for a Black Friday loan?

You will need a rough idea of your income and expenses as well as being over 18, an Australian resident, earning at least $1,000 per fortnight (Centrelink accepted) and be able to verify this if needed.

How long does it take for a Fundo loan to come through?

Once your application is approved and you authorise your loan contract, you could have the funds in your bank account within 60 seconds, provided your account is PayID (also known as Osko or NPP) enabled.

We don’t have to tell you we’re in a cost-of-living crisis – your bank account tells you everything you need to know. In times like this, rent/mortgage payments are up, groceries are up, fuel costs are up; everything you can think of is up, up, up. But there are some hacks and ways around things to help you save as much as you can. Here are five money hacks to help you save more money in 2024.

1. Automate your savings

Most experts you talk to will say “pay yourself first” – and that means portioning off a bit of your income to save into a high-interest bank account or into a micro investment app such as Raiz or Spaceship. Once the money is in the account, you don’t take it out unless there’s an extreme emergency – or you’ve got enough for what you’re saving for, like a home or car deposit. Can’t waste a single cent? You may want to set your savings or micro investment app to “round-ups,” which round every transaction to a dollar (e.g., if you paid 70c for something, 30c will be invested into your account.)

2. Buy gift cards at a discount

Occasionally, retailers will sell gift cards at a discount – and they could cover everything including groceries, fuel, or necessities, not just entertainment, clothing, or dining. You could hold on to them and get more for your dollar, or sell them for face value and gain a return on your investment.

3. Use online marketing to your advantage

Online marketers use something called “remarketing” – if you looked at a pair of shoes on Wednesday, chances are you’ll see ads for it again on your laptop Thursday and once more on your phone during Friday. If you can afford to wait a couple of days before buying, sign up for an account, load up a cart and cancel just before you buy. Some retailers will try to secure the sale by offering you discounts or freebies – just watch your inbox for their “pretty please” email. Other browser extensions such as Honey or Mino can automatically apply discount codes for purchases, which can save you a bundle! If you don’t want their emails, just unsubscribe.

4. Specials only shopping

My Mum loved junk mail for one reason: she could plan her shop at all three supermarkets (Aldi, Coles, and Woolworths) for the cheapest prices on everything we planned to buy that week. If it wasn’t on special, she’d find the cheapest price and shop strategically. If you live near a shopping centre with all three supermarkets, this can save you an absolute bundle. If not, record the cheapest price you see and figure out if a butcher or greengrocer can match or beat it. You’ll be amazed by how much you save!

5. Shop around on utilities

If you haven’t compared your utilities and insurance premiums in at least a year, you could be paying above and beyond what you need to for the same benefits. Gas is gas, and electricity is electricity – there’s no point paying more for the same thing. While you’re at it, audit your subscriptions and cut off anything you aren’t using; these “money vampires” can really drain your account quickly!

Remember, if you need a small cash loan to tide you over in an emergency, Fundo has your back! Our three-step application is safe and secure and you’ll have between $500 and $5,000 in 60 seconds (after contract approval, PayID bank account required.) Apply now!

Perhaps you are contemplating making your couple a family in the near future – or perhaps baby number one is already on the way. Congratulations! Preparing for parenthood is a rollercoaster ride of emotions – and also has the same effect on your finances. Supporting a small family is so much different to just supporting yourself, and you need to have financial structures in place so you aren’t caught short. Fundo knows a thing or two about finances, so we’ve put together five ways you can financially prepare for parenthood and stress less!

1. Audit yourself

You can’t win if you don’t keep score – and your first act as a to-be parent is to audit your finances as they stand. That means looking at your income, looking at your expenses and figuring out what needs to be shifted around to make room for your baby. Get your bank statements and go through them line by line. Use spreadsheets or special budgeting software – no matter how you do it, this needs doing.

2. Create your baby budget

Now that you’ve audited your finances, you have to factor in your baby. That means baby’s food, clothes, furniture, medical expenses, childcare, hospital stays, car seats, parenting or childbirth classes, insurance, and other bits and pieces that you’ll need such as nursery items and toys. One tip is to buy things second hand instead of brand new to keep prices down – and they could still come in handy if you decide on baby number two (or three!) Of course, you could incur unexpected and urgent baby expenses that blow the budget. In that case, it may make financial sense to take out a little loan to tide you over.

3. Factor in parental leave and tax breaks

Will you be a working family or will mum (or dad) want to take extended leave and take care of baby? In the course of your budgeting, you may want to factor in tax benefits and paid leave schemes to provide income; or you may want to pay for childcare and go back to work immediately. As long as you figure it out ahead of time and you can afford it comfortably, go for it!

4. Prioritise insurance and estate planning

Now that you have a dependent on the way, it’s important to prioritise life insurance, including Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance and income protection insurance. These policies cover you if you can no longer work, or are unable to work for extended periods due to illness, injury, or layoff. You should also consult a solicitor to create your will and estate plan if you haven’t already.

5. Re-evaluate six to twelve months after birth

Though you may be tempted to move into a bigger place after finding your current house is too small, or that you need a bigger car to ferry everyone around, don’t make any major financial decision until baby is at least six months old – perhaps even after their first birthday. Hormones, sleepless nights, and post-partum depression can wreak havoc on mum and dad in the adjustment period – making hard and fast financial decisions during that time isn’t ideal. Step back, wait until you adjust to a “new normal” before making big life changes.

Remember – the advice presented here is general in nature. Consult a financial adviser before making any major financial decisions.

If you’ve been hit with unexpected and urgent expenses – car repairs, home repairs, medical bills, urgent travel – and are in need of a quick cash loan, you’ve likely taken to Google to be presented with more than a few options. You may see the terms “payday loans” and “small loans” and “personal loans” used interchangeably. However, payday loans (or any small cash loan) and personal loans are two different types of credit products. They are regulated differently, have different lending criteria, and have varying impacts on your finances. The nature of the two types of loans also determine how long you’ll have to wait to get your funds. So what are the differences between payday loans and personal loans?

Difference #1: Amount you can borrow

The first aspect of payday loans or small cash loans where they fit in the financial marketplace. Government regulators consider payday loans “small amount credit contracts” or SACCs a loan of $2,000 or less, while larger payday loans, from $2,001 to $5,000, with longer terms and different fee structures are considered “medium amount credit contracts” or MACCs. SACCs and MACCs have set borrowing limits – if you need more than $5,000, you will need to take out a personal loan.

Difference #2: Purpose and reasons

Generally, but not always, a personal loan is for a pre-planned expense such as a holiday, car purchase, or home renovation, while a payday loan or instant cash loan is for an unplanned and urgent expense such as the emergency loan situations we described above. Though you can apply for payday loans for pre-planned expenses, the higher interest rates and shorter lending terms usually mean they are not as cost effective.

Difference #3: Terms, interest rates, and fees

SACCs and MACCs have strict terms, interest rates, and fee structures that are regulated by various government financial bodies. For example, a lender can only set the loan terms for a SACC between 16 days and one year. A lender can only charge a 4% monthly fee, a 20% establishment fee, pass on government fees and only charge enforcement fees or default fees if a borrower fails to pay back the loan.

Personal loan terms and interest rates can vary depending on the amount borrowed and the preferences of the borrower (which is also dependent on their credit score and financial situation.) Terms can range from one to seven years or even longer – though longer terms means paying more in interest. Also, interest rates can be calculated differently. Some personal loans may advertise a 7.5%p.a. interest rate, which doesn’t include fees and charges, while other loans may show a 11%p.a. comparison rate, which bundles all the mandatory fees into one number. (The 11% comparison rate may end up being cheaper than the 7.5% rate! Make sure you do your calculations.)

Difference #4: Secured vs. unsecured

Small loans are types of unsecured loans – that means you don’t need to put up an asset or possession as collateral. In a personal loan, you can choose a secured loan (such as a car loan) or an unsecured loan. Unsecured personal loans charge higher interest rates due to the added risk of no collateral to repossess if the borrower doesn’t pay back their loan (defaults).

Difference #5: Regulation and application times

As mentioned before, all loans are regulated by the government. Consumer loans are regulated by the National Consumer Credit Protection Act – that includes small and medium credit contracts as well as consumer personal loans (as separate from business loans.)

Lenders like Fundo can use the latest in technology to determine eligibility for small loans, which means processing times can be as short as three to five minutes, with funds being deposited within 60 seconds (if your bank account has PayID.) Personal loans may need additional documentation and credit checks in order to approve a loan, especially if it’s a large loan ($50,000 or more) that is unsecured. This may take a few business days or even a week; but that shouldn’t matter if an expense is pre-planned. People who are in need of quick cash loans can’t wait for a bank to process these loans as they need cash now.

Remember: the advice presented here is general in nature. Seek professional financial advice from a licensed financial adviser before applying for credit or finance products.

Father’s Day is coming up on the 1st of September – and we can only hope that socks and jocks aren’t on the gift list. Getting a gift for Dad, especially when he insists he doesn’t want anything, can be a bit of a hard task. There’s so many creative and interesting options out there, it can be difficult to figure out where to begin. If you want to go all out but don’t have the cash on hand, Fundo can help with a small cash loan – but more on that later!

So what can you get for the Dad who seems to have everything AND doesn’t want anything? We have put together the perfect comprehensive gift guide for Dads of every stripe: the weekend warrior, the after-hours adventurer, the rock n’ roller, the four-wheel petrolhead, thrillseeker, bookish type, hardcore gamer, DIY handyman, and every type of Dad in between!

Go on a thrillseeking adventure

Thanks to sites like Redballoon and EverythingButFlowers, you can arrange a thrillseeking adventure for your dad such as hot-air-ballooning, single prop plane flights, V8 car experiences, dinner or scenic cruises, skydiving, helicopter flights, and so many other blood-pumping and adrenaline rushing experiences out there that the adventurous Dad will absolutely adore!

Upgrade his PC or console

If your Dad is still rocking a console or PC that outputs potato graphics, it may be time to update his PC with the latest graphics card or a modern console like a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S. Mum may disapprove but your Dad will make you his favourite, guaranteed.

Be his hobby subbie

If you have a dad who enjoys being hands-on or has a bunch of home renovation projects coming up, why not join him as his assistant for the day? Discover his top priority and make sure you’re well-equipped to tackle it. If you’re a mom looking to help your kids make a gift for dad, you’ll be delighted to know that places like Bunnings offer free kids’ workshops, so you can make it a family shared experience that’s full of laughter and memories.

The big game hunter

Does your dad love his games? Poker? Pool? Something of the sort? Maybe it’s time you got him a proper poker table or pool table, replete with all the trimmings that make game time great. Poker tables with sunken stubby holders and chip receptacles make poker feel more alive – the smooth felt surface makes cards glide across, reducing re-deals. Why not splurge by buying him custom poker chips, blind timers, and all in tokens? Perhaps a snooker or billiards scoreboard? Go all out! He’ll love it.

Tickets to his favourite band or event

If dad is always waxing lyrical about how your new-fangled bands are awful and he lived in the glory days, there’s a good chance he misses the sweat and noise of a live band performance. Get him tickets to his favourite band; or if that doesn’t suffice, there are no shortage of top-notch cover bands doing great justice to all the dad rock classics. Since it is September, you may also want to get him a Ticketek or Ticketmaster voucher, in case his favourite footy team gets up during the Finals season. You can’t beat that!

Refill his favourite tipple

If you’ve spied his favourite bottle of whiskey or bourbon (or schnapps – each to his own!) getting a little dry, you may want to give him a refill – or upgrade to something nicer. Jack Daniels fan? Get him a Single Barrel or Gentleman Jack. Ask your bartender or bottle shop attendant for recommendations – you can’t really go wrong! Also think about getting him a cocktail set or even wine subscription – something that he’ll appreciate beyond Father’s day!

Having a great meal out – and more

Treating dad to a great meal out is always a welcome thing – Mexican, Indian, Asian, steak, barbecue – whatever your dad fancies, make sure it’s a big treat come Father’s Day. Pair that with a wine tasting or beer flight at a brewery or winery for the perfect dad day. You’ll probably have brownie points for life after that outing! (In fact, you can pair a tandem skydive with a winery tour – talk about extremes!) Ending the day with a cheeky red on a rooftop bar as the sun sets – unforgettable!

Have a local day out

It’s pretty obvious, but your local community is a treasure trove of local events and special Father’s Day deals leading up to the big day. Take a look at your local council website and Facebook page, or try searching event pages like Eventfinda. Dad will have a blast with a comedy show, enthusiast rally (car show, etc.) or sporting match. Make it a bit of a road trip by going regional and coming back around for a pub meal or fine dining dinner.

For the haute couture dad

Some dads love to stand out – and that’s where you might want to buy him something for his hair (if he still has it), an accessory such as a new automatic Swiss watch, a gold bracelet or necklace, or a designer fragrance that screams elegance and charm. Have a scoot around to see if he’s a fan of dress watches, chronographs, or GMTs. On the fragrance side, have a rifle through his bathroom cabinet to see if he enjoys blue fragrances such as Dior’s Sauvage line, the many Bleu de Chanel flankers, or the bold and seductive The One for Men EDP by Dolce & Gabbana. If he’s still got Brut 43 or Pino Silvestre tucked away there, please do him a favour and replace them with something like the exquisite Terre d’Hermes! Other ideas could be new cufflinks, ties, scarves, or even cravats.

A massage gun

Massage guns have a wide range of uses that are both fun and easy to understand. These techniques have the ability to reduce inflammation by promoting lymphatic flow and improving circulation. They also help to relax tense muscles, break up scar tissue, and alleviate soreness and tension. They’re perfect for athletes and regular exercisers, as they can alleviate the post-workout muscle soreness. However, even if you’re not into sports, they can still be quite useful. Your dad will appreciate getting his kinks worked out without having to step into a massage parlour or physio clinic. A massage at the touch of a button? Your mum might appreciate it too!

A cheeky t-shirt

Thanks to sites like Redbubble or Officeworks, you can get almost any design you can think of printed and shipped out to Dad in time for Father’s day. If your Dad loves Dad jokes (and you even laugh) getting him a t-shirt that might give him a few disapproving stares could be the ticket – especially if he’s a bit of a prankster!

Upgrading his barbeque – or smoker

Every Dad is the king of the BBQ – and whether they’re passionate about gas, electric, or charcoal, there’s a BBQ that suits every taste and passion. If he’s stuck with a tiny little kettle or two burner, it may be time to upgrade and let his craving for smoked meat go wild. Kettle smokers for the perfect beef or pork ribs and brisket is becoming a major trend in Australia, as American style BBQ takes hold. How else can your Dad say he spent eight hours “cooking” and avoiding chores?

Going camping or fishing

There’s nothing quite like breathing in fresh air and gazing up at the stars. Why not try camping if your dad loves the great outdoors? Get ready for an overnight adventure, complete with a delicious breakfast served in bed or by the campfire to end the trip on a high note. If you’re looking for something a little more laid-back, why not try hiking or bushwalking? Why not surprise dad with a fun outdoor lunch? Pack his favourite items in a backpack and enjoy a delicious meal together. Go on a hike, see the big views he’s always excited about – there’s nothing better for a dad who loves getting out and about! If you go out near the beach or a lake brimming with fish, get the rods out and have a relaxing cast as the sun sinks into twilight. Fantastic!

For the bookish Dad

Visiting art galleries, museums, and cultural centres is a delightful experience that won’t cost you a dime. These places offer a plethora of captivating exhibits and activities to keep you entertained for hours. How about switching things up and going on a fun nighttime adventure to an observatory? You’ll get to enjoy the beauty of the stars while learning about the wonders of science! If he’s more of a homebody, you may want to hit up Amazon or your local bookstore for some glossy coffee table books about his favourite topic. Your Dad can never have enough information about his hobbies!

Kitting out the Man Cave

Can a Man Cave ever have enough posters or car parts or trinkets? (Trick question – of course it can!) Hitting up your local novelty shop or memorabilia store to get another “Super Stud Parking Zone” sign, Scarface poster (of course) or mini-fridge in the shape of an old school petrol bowser, your Dad will find a place to show it off to his mates – with pride.

Asking for fatherly advice

Funnily enough, this costs absolutely nothing and your Dad will be chuffed with it. Just ask him for some fatherly advice – be it about changing your oil, figuring out what light globes go where, or even about what to do when the Mrs. gets mad because you left your knife on the edge of the sink again (boys, you know what I mean.) Dads will always – and I mean always – get a thrill by being helpful and useful. Besides – it’s bonding time that you can’t really put a price on, now can you?

We’re all feeling the crush of high cost of living and inflation – and buying groceries is one expense we simply can’t avoid. With grocery prices climbing along with everything else, it’s getting harder and harder to make our dollars stretch as far as they once did, which puts many of us at risk of financial issues.

However, with groceries being everywhere if you look hard enough, you can save a pretty penny on staples or using a few tried and true strategies. We’ve put together five golden money saving ways to save on your grocery bill – and you don’t have to live on bread and water, either!

Plan your meals

This is a big hack to saving on groceries – planning your meals at least a week ahead of time so you aren’t tempted to splurge on fast food or quick ready meals you can just reheat. By planning your meals, you can also buy in bulk – which also translates into savings – and cut down on the dollar per serving of every meal. You can also plan around specific ingredients such as the ones on special so you can cut spending right down, as well as take advantage of leftovers. This also means you can budget around these meals and make sure you’re on track.

Go direct to the source (or close enough to)

If you can, find a farmer’s co-op, farmer’s market, or food stands if you live in regional areas to save big money on supermarket overheads and other added costs. You may have to travel a bit out of the way and find where the markets are, but you can save a lot of money this way. If you can’t travel far, you may want to buy direct from butchers or green grocers, which can often be found cheaper than their supermarket counterparts. For staples, just go to ALDI for the basics if you can’t find them anywhere else.

Bonus tip: join your local neighbourhood Facebook or social media group; they may advertise specials, freebies, or locations of pop-up clearance centres, where you can save a bundle!

60-30-10 method

One way to reduce grocery costs is to use the 60-30-10 method: 60% spent on wholegrains or carbs, 30% spent on protein, and 10% (or less) on processed or convenience foods. These could be broken up into staples like flour or bread for grains; or even legumes for your protein intake which is way cheaper than meat. As mentioned, by planning using this method, you might cook up a big slow cooker meal that’s full of root vegetables, rice, and a bit of meat to make the protein portion go further.

Bonus tip: tinned or frozen vegetables are cheaper and usually aren’t that much nutritionally different than their fresh counterparts, either.

CEO of Fundo, Bishara Hatoum says that a few small changes can reap big rewards. “Meat is one of the items that has been hit hard by inflation, so having a meat-free night once or twice per week can really take the strain off your grocery bill; especially if your family are big meat eaters. There are plenty of online recipes that are not only delicious, but nutritious – and the kids might even request it again!”

Unit prices vs sticker price

Specials and bargains may look good on the surface, but you have to consider the unit price versus the sticker price when figuring out what’s actually economical. Most supermarkets will list the unit price (e.g., per 100g, 100ml, per sheet, etc.) so you can make an apples-to-apples comparison between products. Though a 1kg bag of rice might be on special that week, it may be more cost-effective to buy the 2kg bag with a lower unit price.

Shop at night

Not only will you avoid the crush of Saturday morning shoppers, but you’ll also actually find that there’s lots of bargains to be had as managers and supervisors mark down close-to-expiry products or hot food like roast chickens that will otherwise be thrown out. Having an extra piece of bread with a pre-prepared dinner can make the dinner last a bit longer than expected, too!

Need a small loan to help tide you over until payday? Fundo has you covered. Get $500 to $5,000 within 60 seconds.
