Living in Sydney can be expensive, and when unexpected costs arise you might wonder whether past financial difficulties will prevent you from accessing a loan. The reality is that previous credit issues may affect your options, but they do not automatically rule you out.
At Fundo, we provide Small Amount Credit Contracts (SACC) and Medium Amount Credit Contracts (MACC) to eligible borrowers. Applications are assessed based on your overall financial situation, including your income, expenses and existing commitments.
Short-term loans are expensive and may not be suitable for everyone. Borrow only what you need and can afford to repay.
Loans are subject to credit assessment, eligibility criteria, and approval.
“Bad credit loans” is a commonly used term for loans applied for by people who may have experienced financial difficulties in the past, such as missed payments, defaults or other credit challenges.
In Australia, lenders are required to assess whether a loan is suitable and affordable before approval. This means decisions are based on a range of financial factors, not a single measure.
Some people with past financial difficulties may still be eligible if their current financial situation indicates repayments could be manageable. However, recent or serious financial stress indicators may affect approval or loan terms.
There is no guaranteed approval, and outcomes depend on individual circumstances.
Loan amounts: $500 to $2,000
Loan terms: 4 to 39 weeks
SACC loans do not charge interest but include a capped establishment fee and monthly fee under Australian regulations.
Loan amounts: $2,001 to $5,000
Loan terms: 9 to 39 weeks
MACC loans may include interest in addition to fees. All costs are disclosed before you decide whether to proceed.
You do not need to provide any asset as collateral, because Fundo’s loans are not secured against a car, property or similar asset.
You can apply, but past financial difficulties may affect approval and loan terms.
We assess applications using a range of information including:
• Current income
• Regular living expenses
• Existing financial commitments
• Recent bank transaction history
• Other information relevant to affordability and suitability
We consider whether taking on a new loan appears manageable based on your current circumstances. We may decline an application if a loan appears likely to cause financial hardship or make it difficult to meet existing obligations.
There is no guaranteed approval, and we cannot predict the outcome without reviewing your full circumstances.
Once assessment begins during business hours and all required information is provided, decisions can often be made quickly and sometimes within the same business day.
However, there is no such thing as a guaranteed instant loan. All licensed lenders must assess suitability and affordability before approval.
If approved and you accept your contract, funds are transferred to your nominated bank account as soon as reasonably possible. Processing times vary depending on verification requirements, bank systems, time of day and whether it is a weekend or public holiday.
Instant funding is not guaranteed.
To apply, you generally need to:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be living in Australia
• Receive regular income of at least $1,000 per fortnight, which may include eligible government benefits
• Demonstrate you can meet repayments without experiencing financial hardship
Meeting these requirements does not guarantee approval. Each application is assessed individually.
If Centrelink is your sole source of income, the maximum amount we may approve is $500, subject to our credit assessment.
Loan amounts range from $500 to $10,000. The amount approved depends on your financial circumstances and what appears manageable based on your situation.
Borrowing the maximum amount is not always appropriate. The right amount is one that you can comfortably repay alongside your other commitments.
Understanding the total repayment amount is important before making a decision.
You borrow $1,000. With a $200 establishment fee and $200 in monthly fees, the total repayment is $1,400. That equals $70 per week for five months.
You borrow $2,500. With a $400 establishment fee and $389 in interest, the total repayment is $3,289. That equals $253 per fortnight.
These examples are illustrative only. Actual costs depend on the loan amount, term, fees, interest and whether repayments are made on time.
Repayments are set out in your contract and must be made as scheduled. Repayment frequency options may be available depending on your circumstances and are determined during assessment.
Shorter loan terms generally mean higher regular repayments but lower overall cost. Longer terms reduce each repayment amount but may increase the total amount repaid.
Applications are completed online.
The process typically involves:
Processing times vary depending on verification requirements, bank systems, time of day and whether it is a weekend or public holiday.
If you have experienced financial difficulties, it is important to consider whether taking on additional credit is appropriate.
Short-term loans may assist with unexpected expenses, but they do not solve ongoing financial problems. If you are already struggling with existing debts or regular expenses, a new loan could increase financial pressure.

Not automatically. Past financial difficulties may affect approval and loan terms, but we consider your overall financial situation.
Once your application is complete and all information is provided, we aim to provide a decision within one business day. There is no guaranteed instant decision or funding.

Repayments are set under the contract and must be made as scheduled. Repayment frequency options may be available depending on your circumstances.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, taking on additional credit may not be appropriate and your application could be declined. Consider speaking with a financial counsellor first.
