If you have previously been declined for credit because of past financial difficulties, you may be wondering what options are available. Having a history of missed payments or defaults can make borrowing more challenging, but it does not automatically prevent you from applying.
At Fundo, we provide Small Amount Credit Contracts (SACC) and Medium Amount Credit Contracts (MACC) to eligible Australians, including Brisbane residents. Applications are assessed based on your overall financial situation, including income, expenses and existing commitments.
Past financial difficulties may affect approval and loan terms. Loans are subject to assessment, eligibility, and approval.
Short-term loans are expensive and may not be suitable for everyone. Borrow only what you need and can afford to repay.
When applying for credit, lenders may review your borrowing history to understand how you have managed credit in the past. This can include:
• Previous credit applications
• Payment history on loans or credit accounts
• Defaults or overdue debts
• Court judgments or insolvency events
• Current financial commitments
Past financial issues may affect the outcome of an application, but they are only one part of the assessment. Responsible lending laws require lenders to consider whether a loan is suitable and affordable based on your current financial circumstances.
There is no such thing as a guaranteed instant loan. All licensed lenders must assess suitability before approval.
As a licensed lender, we are required to assess whether a loan would be suitable and affordable for you
This may involve reviewing:
• Income from employment or eligible government benefits
• Regular living expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries and transport
• Existing loans, credit cards or other financial obligations
• Recent banking activity to understand spending patterns
• Other information relevant to affordability and suitability
If the assessment indicates that a loan could cause financial hardship or make it difficult to meet existing obligations, the application may be declined.
Loan amounts: $500 to $2,000

Loan terms: 9 to 39 weeks

You do not need to provide any asset as collateral, because Fundo’s loans are not secured against a car, property or similar asset.
Before applying, it is important to understand the total repayment amount and whether repayments fit within your budget.
Loan amount: $800
Establishment fee: $160
Monthly fees: $128
Total repayment: $1,088
Fortnightly repayment: $136
Loan amount: $3,000

Total repayment: $3,948
Fortnightly repayment: $329
These examples are illustrative only. Actual costs depend on the loan amount, term, fees, interest and whether repayments are made on time.
To apply, you generally need to:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be living in Australia
• Receive regular income of at least $1,000 per fortnight, which may include eligible government benefits
• Demonstrate the ability to meet repayments without experiencing financial hardship
Meeting these criteria does not guarantee approval. Each application is assessed individually.
If Centrelink is your sole source of income, the maximum amount we may approve is $500, subject credit assessment.
Applications are completed online. You will provide personal details, income, expenses, existing debts and recent bank statementss. Verification documents may be requested during assessment.
Processing times vary depending on when you apply, how quickly documents are provided, and verification requirements. Once all information is available and assessment begins during business hours, decisions can often be made quickly and sometimes within the same business day.
There is no guaranteed instant decision or funding.
If approved, you will receive a contract outlining fees, charges and repayment obligations. You can review this before deciding whether to proceed. If accepted, funds are transferred to your nominated bank account as soon as reasonably possible.
Processing times vary depending on bank systems, time of day and whether it is a weekend or public holiday.
Repayments are set out in your contract and must be made as scheduled. Repayment frequency options may be available depending on your circumstances and are determined during assessment.
Missing repayments may negatively affect your financial situation and could impact future borrowing options. If you are already experiencing difficulty meeting existing commitments, taking on additional credit may increase financial pressure.
Before applying, particularly if you have experienced financial difficulty, consider whether other options may be more suitable:
• Payment arrangements with service providers
• Using available savings
• Free financial counselling support
• Reviewing eligibility for government assistance
You can contact the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 for free, confidential and independent assistance.
Short-term loans may assist with unexpected one-off expenses. However, they are not suitable for:
• Ongoing financial difficulties
• Covering regular living expenses long term
• Consolidating multiple debts
• Situations where you are already struggling to meet commitments
If you are experiencing financial hardship, professional advice may be helpful before taking on additional credit.
Not necessarily. Past financial difficulties may affect approval and loan terms, but each application is assessed based on overall financial circumstances.
Once all required information is provided and assessment begins during business hours, we aim to provide a decision within one business day. There is no guaranteed instant decision.
Once you accept your contract, funds are transferred as soon as reasonably possible. Timing depends on verification requirements, bank systems and processing times. Instant funding is not guaranteed.
Repayments are set under the contract and must be made as scheduled. Repayment frequency options may be available depending on your circumstances and are determined during assessment.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, taking on additional credit may not be appropriate and your application may be declined. Consider speaking with a financial counsellor before applying.
All fees, charges, interest rates and repayment amounts are disclosed in your loan contract before you decide whether to proceed.
